REMEDIAL SERVICES

In general, a primary student should be promoted to the next grade level, when he/she has demonstrated a reasonable acquisition of the basic skills, as dictated by the state learning standards. A middle or upper grade student should be promoted to the next grade if he/she has demonstrated a reasonable acquisition of the basic skills of the curriculum assigned to that grade level and based upon performance on standardized test, other available data and teacher's judgment.

If a student demonstrates through assessments, the necessity of retention, written documentation of deficiencies will be communicated to the parents/guardian. Steps to remediate the deficiencies by the teacher(s) should be clearly documented. The remediation steps will include, but are not limited to:

1. After school tutorial
2. In class remediation utilizing computer technology
3. Referral for testing to remediate specific problems
4. Title I Services
5. Attend summer school
6. Transitional classrooms
