"SUCCESS IN SCHOOL - OUR MOST IMPORTANT BUSINESS"

                                               DISTRICT PHILOSOPHY

The mission of Ford Heights School District 169 which services Pre-kindergarten through grade eight, is to foster a quality educational program through the implementation of four action     components:                                                                                             1.School  Environment                                                                                                                     2.Curriculum and Instruction                                                                 3.Professional Development                                                                 4.Parent-Community Involvement

                                         THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Donald Quinn states, "If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't  want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job." In Ford Heights' schools, we take Donald Quinn's conception of the classroom teacher's job and work to make that job a lot less daunting and a lot more meaningful for both students and teachers.

All faculty and staff work together as a team to ensure that we   reinforce our goals daily.   We work to make sure that students are provided a learning environment that is safe and conducive to learning. We also make sure that students are respected as we embrace the various differences in their personalities. We strive to put protocols in place that allow our students to thrive as individuals without interrupting the flow of learning for others. In order to create an environment where learning is welcomed, we have outlined expectations for our students. These expectations are not designed to restrict, but rather to liberate our students and teachers. Teachers are free to teach and students are free to learn. Our guiding philosophy for all students is: "Success in School - Our Most Important Business."

We expect our students to reflect that philosophy throughout the day so we ask that they practice the following habits:

1. Be motivated, encouraged and challenged to learn daily.
2. Exemplify their best behavior at all times.
3. Follow district, school and classroom rules
4. Uphold our tenets of behavior:
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be a Leader.
