Grading and Promotion
The following procedure will be followed when promoting or retaining a student:
- A student must successfully complete and master 86% of his/her academic assignments, skills and concepts. The student's success must be supported by using the student's work in a folder against his/her test scores.
- A student's overall test scores must indicate a minimum of nine (9) months growth over the previous year in all areas but particularly in Reading, Vocabulary, Language Arts and Math as determined by a standardized test.
- A student must be in attendance at least 158 days out of 176 days of school unless an emergency situation occurs as documented by a doctor's statement.
The teacher must recommend the promotion or retention of all students based on local assessments, standardized testing and teacher evaluation of the student readiness for the next grade level. The student must meet at least two (2) of the three (3) criteria for promotion.
